Personal information protection

The Department of State Growth (the Department), through Business Tasmania, values the privacy of every individual’s personal information and is committed to protecting the information we collect and use.

Protecting your personal information is an important aspect of the way we create, organise and implement our activities online and offline.

In using this tool, the Department will capture the following details:

  • first and last name
  • email address
  • industry

This information is collected for the purposes of enabling you to create a profile, login to view your ideas and to enable us to understand the value of the tool to different industries in Tasmania.

When using this tool, you will not be required to disclose any commercially sensitive information about your business idea.

Information provided will be managed in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act 2004.

The Department will ensure that your personal information will not be used or disclosed to others except where required or allowed by law.

You can request access to the personal information we hold about you by contacting Business Tasmania via email to ask@business.tas.gov.au.

Website analytics

The Department may collect non-personal information statistical information on how our websites are used, to improve your experience and make our websites more helpful.

The Department uses Google Analytics to track website use by using Cookies to gather anonymous information via your browser. Cookies collect information about the date and time of your visit, your browser type, computer platform, screen resolutions, pages, documents accessed, your server address and the website you visited prior to our websites.

The Department does not identify users or browser activity outside of our websites.

Security

The Department has implemented technology and security policies, rules and measures to protect the personal information that we have under our control from unauthorised access, improper use, unsanctioned alteration, unlawful or accidental destruction and accidental loss.

The Department will destroy personal information where it is no longer required (except where required to be kept in compliance with the Archives Act 1983). The Department will take reasonable steps to ensure that personal information is accurate, complete and up to date whenever the Department discloses or uses it.
